LAWYER SIMRAN TOOR WANTS TO ENSURE A FAIR OUTCOME FOR FEMALES

SHE’s CEO Simran Toor is acutely aware of the effect of digitisation on our society, and this is reflected in SHE’s focus of empowering women in the digital age. “We eat, shop, work, attend school and even date online – it’s part of our lived experience. So, it’s important to view all the actions and policy changes we want to make in support of women through that lens,” says Simran who, as a lawyer, also championed equitable treatment of women lawyers on the council of The Law Society of Singapore.

It is this belief that fuels SHE's one stop victim support centre SHECARES@SCWO, which provides guidance, legal assistance and counselling with regards to online harms. The more time we spend online, the more susceptible we are to its potential negative effects. It’s important that girls and women have a trusted resource to turn to for help.

Never one to take a gender stereotype lying down and always driven by fairness and justice, learn more about Simran’s passionate pursuit of gender equality in her recent feature on A+: At The Vanguard.
